Litigation Attorney

Shannon & Wright LLP is actively seeking an experienced civil and commercial litigation attorney who will serve as a pivotal member within our litigation practice representing a diverse group of reputable and well-established individual and corporate clients. This position may be based out of our Alexandria or Leesburg office.

Within this role you will work on all aspects of client matters involving dispute resolution from direct client interaction and communications, including representing the client as second-chair in Circuit Court and Appellate level cases, and lead counsel in General District Court matters.  Responsibilities include independently managing and performing complex civil litigation procedures to caseload from client intake to closing matters. This will also include transactional work to the clients’ needs.

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of direct civil and commercial litigation experience along with excellent writing, research, and communication skills. Candidates must be barred in Virginia (MD and DC a plus).

This position will report directly to the Managing Partner while collaboratively working with our other partners, attorneys, and S&W team members.

Responsibilities include:

  • Independently manage and perform complex civil litigation procedures to caseload from client intake to closing file as assigned

  • Ensure all actions are in support of the Virginia Bar and other applicable bars and legal best practices

Ideal Candidates will:

  • Have current Virginia Bar Membership in good standing
  • Have minimum 5 years successfully litigating civil cases in Virginia courts
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of civil court system
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of real estate and commercial law
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legal processes and local court requirements including trial and appellate court systems
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Have excellent organizational skills including capturing, detailing and follow up skills
  • Commit to professionalism, integrity and loyalty that are keystones for the firm
  • Have professional office experience using Microsoft Office Suite including Teams, Outlook, Word and Adobe

Transactional Attorney

Shannon & Wright LLP is actively seeking a Transactional Attorney to support our Business, Real Estate, and Tax practices conducting sophisticated business and real estate transactions. This position can be based out of our Alexandria or Leesburg office.

Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years of relevant experience in such areas as: drafting and negotiating various agreements (asset purchase and sale, shareholder, operating, executive compensation, non-compete, etc.), stock purchase and recapitalizations, M&A transactions, and all types of real estate transactions. Candidates should have experience strategically advising clients, identifying and minimizing potential risks. Candidates must be barred in Virginia (MD and DC a plus).

The position will entail working with partners on all aspects of legal matters with direct client interaction representing a diverse group of reputable and well-established individual and corporate clients. Successful candidates will have excellent writing, research, and communication skills.

Legal Assistant

Shannon & Wright LLP is actively seeking a full-time Legal Assistant to provide support services to attorneys in the areas of civil litigation, real estate and land use, employment law, trusts and estates, as well as general business transactions. Candidates have the option to work in our Old Town Alexandria or downtown Leesburg office locations.

The position entails direct client interaction and requires professional communication skills, both verbal and written. The ideal candidate is a versatile team player who thrives in a busy, professional environment, who can effectively organize and prioritize tasks. Candidates with a strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and proactive approach to assignments will excel in this position.

As a Legal Assistant, you will ensure the efficient and timely workflows of attorney and client needs to enhance the reputation of the firm. This position will report directly to the Firm Administrator and is a critical role of the Support Staff team. Successful candidates will thrive in an environment that upholds professionalism, integrity and loyalty; core values of the firm.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring all incoming calls and guests are greeted timely and professionally;
  • Managing the firm’s client intake process and conducting potential client screenings;
  • Conducting Conflict Checks for potential new clients;
  • Setting up new clients in the firm’s legal software database;
  • Case file management to include opening, maintaining, and closing client files;
  • Managing electronic calendars and shared inboxes;
  • Coordinating conference rooms and meeting schedules;
  • Processing incoming mail and packages, coordinating courier pick up and deliveries; scheduling court reporters;
  • Drafting engagement letters and legal correspondence;
  • Conducting legal research as needed;
  • Ensuring timely entry of time and billing details daily and in line with the firm’s best practices;
  • Managing the inventory and ordering of office supplies;
  • Ensuring the reception, conference rooms and kitchen are neat and professional throughout the day;
  • Working with firm management to support the goals of the firm and special projects as needed.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Have minimum 2 years providing legal support services;
  • Have working knowledge and familiarity with legal processes and local court procedures;
